Copy of “No Nos Callarán”, El Universal, Mexico, 31 August 2015: 1-4. On 31 August a campaign using the hashtag ‘No Nos Callarán’ (They Will Not Silence Us) took over social media accounts and the front page of the Mexican newspaper El Universal. The campaign aimed to draw attention to rising cases of journalists being or murdered or dissapeared in Mexico, and appealed to Mexican authorities to intervene. This document contains: 1 cover page of El Universal showing the campaign’s slogan as a title; 1 copy of a public letter to Enrique Peña Nieto, President of Mexico (2012-18), signed by the American Centre alongside the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) and the online activist community Avaaza; 2 pages containing 600 signatures from journalists and academics from 192 countries pledging their support and solidarity with the campaign.
