Elena Poniatowska

Photograph of the French-born Mexican journalist and author Elena Poniatowska, member of the Mexican Centre and vice-president of PEN International (2019-). In 2015 the Mexican Centre awarded Poniatowska the PEN Mexico Award in recognition of excellence in journalism, literature, and work in human rights. Poniatowska also received the Miguel de Cervantes Prize in 2013, in recognition of a lifetime achievement of literary excellence in the Spanish language.
