Typed press release by Hans Erpf for Swiss German Centre titled “Wo Ist Vaclav Havel?”, Bern, 8 April 1989, f. 1. In this press release Hans Erpf, general secretary of the Swiss German Centre (1980-92), calls attention to the disappearance of Václav Havel, Czech playwright, essayist, dissident and first President of the Czech Republic (1993-2003), who was imprisoned at the time. Erpf calls upon the public to send letters of concern to members of the Charter 77 – an informal civic initiative that existed in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic from 1976 to 1992 – at Havel’s last known address in Prague. Havel was eventually released from prison one month later, on 18 May 1989.
