Heinrich Mann requests membership
Handwritten letter from Heinrich Mann to Rudolf Olden, Nice, 20 January 1934, f. 1. In this letter Mann writes to Olden, secretary of the German-Speaking Writers Abroad Centre (1933-40), requesting to become a member of the newly formed Centre, after being informed of its existence by the German writer Lion Feuchtwanger. At this time Mann was living in exile in Nice, having been an early outspoken critic of the Nazi party in Germany. Mann went on to become the Centre’s president in April 1934. This item is held at the German National Library (Gerrman Exile Archive 1933-1945, Frankfurt am Main).

Carta manuscrita de Heinrich Mann a Rudolf Olden, Niza, 20 enero 1934, f. 1. En esta carta, Mann escribe a Olden, secretario del Centro de Escritores de Habla Alemana en el Extranjero (1933-40), pidiéndole adiliarse al Centro, acabado de fundar, del que ha oído hablar a través del escritor Lion Feuchtwanger. En este momento, Mann estaba exiliado a Niza por haber sido uno de los primeros críticos del partido nazi en Alemania. Mann se convirtió en el presidente del Centro en abril de 1934.
