A Walk in the Prison Yard translated by Barbara Traber

Electronic copy of A Walk in the Prison Yard (Ein Spaziergang im Gefängnishof) by Ken Saro-Wiwa and translated into German by Barbara Traber, secretary general of the Swiss German Centre (1990-2000). The case of the Nigerian activist and writer Saro-Wiwa, who was imprisoned and executed on 10 November 1995, was taken up by PEN International and remains unresolved. Saro-Wiwa wrote this poem whilst incarcerated in Port Harcourt prison, having been arrested for campaigning against Shell’s destructive oil extraction from land owned by the Ogoni people.
