Of the 145 PEN International Centres established today in around 100 countries around the world, the Canadian PEN Centre is one of the oldest. The Centre was founded in 1926 in Montreal on the suggestion of the first president of PEN International, the British writer and Nobel Prize winner John Galsworthy.

Le Centre a été fondé en 1926, à Montréal, à la suggestion du premier président du PEN International, l’écrivain britannique et prix Nobel John Galsworthy.
