Yiddish Centre at Warsaw Congress

Photograph of a delegation from the Yiddish Centre at the 8th PEN International Congress in Warsaw, Poland, 20-25 June 1930. From left to right are: Michał Weinzieher, art critic and director of the Historical Museum of Lviv; Sholem Asch (Asz Szalom), who became the Centre’s honorary president after moving to the USA in 1939; unknown; and Stefania Zahorska, art historian and film critic who joined the English Centre and the Polish Writers in Exile Centre in 1939. This Congress was attended by over one-hundred guests from over twenty-seven countries. This photograph was contributed by the Narodowe Archiwum Cyfrowe (National Digital Archives) of Poland.
