PEN Conference in Accra

Photograph of PEN members at a conference held in Accra in 2005 in preparation for the 73^rd PEN International Congress in Dakar, Senegal, 4-7 July 2007, titled The World and Human Values. This conference was supported by UNESCO and hosted by the Ghanaian Centre, and aimed to initiate plans for sustained collaboration between the African PEN Centers as well as select a theme for the Congress. Among them are: the Ghanaian poet an professor Kofi Anyidoho, second from the left; Joanne Leedom-Ackerman, international secretary (2004-07) and vice-president emeritus of PEN International, third from the left; and Frankie Asare-Donkoh, president of the Ghanaian Centre (1995-), standing at the podium.
