Photograph of an altar created by the Paraguayan Centre for PEN International’s Day of the Dead Campaign. The Day of the Dead campaign was launched on 2 November 2000 to commemorate Mexican journalists and writers who had been killed or disappeared in the course of their work. Today the campaign focuses not only on the state of persecution in Mexico but in all countries, and calls on their governments to bring an end to impunity, violence and persecution of journalists and writers, as well as to protect freedom of expression.

Altar en el Día de los Muertos

Fotografía de un altar creado por el Centro Paraguayo dentro de la campaña de PEN Internacional del Día de los Muertos. La campaña del Día de los Muertos empezó el 2 de noviembre de 2000 para conmemorar periodistas y escritores mexicanos asesinados o desaparecidos mientras ejercían su trabajo. Hoy la campaña visibiliza casos de persecución estatal en todos los países, y pide a los gobiernos acabar con la impunidad, la violencia y la persecución de periodistas y escritores, así como proteger la libertad de expresión.
