Photograph of Gioconda Belli, president of the Nicaraguan Centre (2013-), speaking at an event titled Los Que No Callaron, which took place at the Instituto de Historia de Nicaragua y Centroamérica (IHNCA) at Central American University in Managua on 1 November 2017. This event was co-organised by the Nicaraguan Centre and Fundación Violeta Barrios de Chamorro, and was held as part of PEN International’s Day of the Dead Campaign – an inititative that was launched on 2 November 2011 as a means of annually commemorating writers and journalists who have been murdered, or who have disappeared, as a result of their work.
