Photograph of an event organised by the Paraguayan Centre for PEN International’s Day of the Dead Campaign. The Day of the Dead campaign was launched on 2 November 2000 to commemorate Mexican journalists and writers who had been killed or disappeared in the course of their work. Today the campaign focuses not only on the state of persecution in Mexico but in all countries, and calls on their governments to bring an end to impunity, violence and persecution of journalists and writers, as well as to protect freedom of expression. This event took place at Biblioteca Municipal Augusto Roa Bastos in Asunción on 2 November 2018. At the event a booklet titled Verdad y libertad más allá de la muerte was distributed to those who had attended.
