Japanese Centre at 14th PEN Congress

Carlos Ibarguren, former president of the Argentinian Centre, is sitting on the far left of the front row. The two men beside him (from left to right) are Arishima Ikuma, first vice-president of the Japanese Centre, and Tōson Shimazaki, founder and first president of the Japanese Centre. The Japanese Centre (then known as the Nippon Centre) was founded one year prior to the Congress, on 26 November 1935.
