Two photographs of writers and PEN members gathered for the Palestinian Centre’s 6^th International Poetry Festival, which took place in Jerusalem, Nablus and Bethlehem on 1-4 October 1999. This event, which promoted Palestinian literature, drew together poets and writers from countries across the world, and included Rami Hamdallah, President of the Palestinian National Authority (2014-19), as a guest of honour. The photograph above shows a meeting taking place with Hanan Awwad, president of the Palestinian Centre (1992-), seated third from the right on the furthermost table. The upside-down photograph below shows Lucina Kathmann, former president of the San Miguel de Allende Centre, vice-president emerita of PEN International (2003-) and chair of PEN International’s Women Writers Committee (1996-2003), seated at the end on the left hand corner (if looking at the photograph from this angle).
