Nancy Chang Ing’s reply to Chinese Centres

Nancy Chang Ing, president of the Taipei Chinese Centre (1981-95) and vice-president of PEN International (1975-2017), made this speech at the 46^th PEN International Congress in Caracas, Venezuela, which took place from 25 September to 2 October 1983, in reply to a statement issued by three joint PEN Centres in China at the same Congress. In her reponse, Chang Ing disputes the three Chinese Centres’ accusations that the Taipei Chinese Centre uses their name when translated into English (Chinese Republic of PEN) as a political statement.

En su respuesta, Chang Ing se opone a las acusaciones de los tres Centros chinos sobre el nombre que el Centro Chino de Taipei usa en inglés, República China de PEN, como una declaración política.
