The Third Asian Writers’ Conference

The Japanese Nobel laureate Yasunari Kawabata, who was the guest of honour at the event and gave the keynote speech, can be seen seated second from the left. Lin Yutang 林語堂, president of the Taipei Chinese Centre (1969-73), is seated to the right of Kawabata, and Sofia Wadia, founder of the All-India Centre, can just be seen behind him, to his left.
