Majid Naficy
Photograph of Majid Naficy, member of the Iranian Centre in Exile. Naficy, who was born in Isfahan, is a poet, literary critic, and award-winning author of children’s books. Naficy was a vocal critic of the Shah’s regime in Iran and, after the revolution in 1979, moved to Los Angeles with his son in 1983. Naficy holds a doctorate in Near Eastern Languages and Cultures from the University of California in Los Angeles, and his doctoral dissertation, titled Modernism and Ideology in Persian Literature: A Return to Nature in the Poetry of Nima Yushij, was published by the University Press of America in 1997. Naficy is also the co-editor of Daftarhaye Kanoon, a periodical in Farsi published by the Iranian Centre in Exile.
