Maryam Hooleh
Photograph of Maryam Hooleh, member of the Iranian Centre in Exile. Hooleh was born in Tehran and began writing from a young age. She is considered to be one of the strongest voices within a new generation of Iranian poets in exile, and her poems have been translated into English, Swedish, French, Kurdish, and Turkish. In 2000 Hooleh was invited to Sweden by The Iranian Women’s Studies Foundation (IWSF), where her third book Cursed Booth was released by Baran publications. In 2003 she won a literary scholarship from Swedish Centre and moved to Sweden, where she now lives, and has since published three more books of poetry.
