Raif Badawi’s family during 81^st Congress

Photograph of Raif Badawi’s family taken during the 81^st PEN International Congress which took place from 13 to 16 October 2015 in Quebec City. The title of the Congress was Translation = Creation = Freedom. Badawi was arrested in 2012, in Saudi Arabia, for insulting Islam and later sentenced to ten years of prison, 1000 lashes and a fine. Due to Badawi’s poor health, however, the sentence was never fully carried away. Badawi’s wife, Ensaf Haidar, took refuge in Canada with the couple’s three children and has campaigned for his liberation ever since.
