Delegates at the 2006 Berlin Congress

Photograph of the delegates at the 72nd PEN International Congress in Berlin, which took place on 22-28 May 2006 and was titled Writing in a World Without Peace. This photograph was taken on 24 May 2006 at the Federal Chancellery, in Berlin, where Angela Merkel, seen here in a green shirt, hosted the delegates and gave a speech. Among those are: Joanne Leedom-Ackerman, international secretary (2004-07) and vice-president emeritus of PEN International; Jiří Gruša, president of PEN International (2003-09); Elisabeth Nordgren, chair of the Women Writers Committee (2015-18); and Eugene Schoulgin, president of the Writers in Prison Committee (2000-04), international secretary (2007-10) and vice-president of PEN International.
