Empty Chair for Razan Zaitouneh

Poster used for the empty chair dedicated to Syrian blogger and human rights activist Razan Zaitouneh, and signed by the members of various Centres during the biennial ICORN Network Meeting and PEN International Writers in Prison Conference, which was held in Lillehammer from 31 May to 2 June 2017 and titled In Other Words. Zaitouneh, who won multiple awards for her championing of freedom of speech, was abducted alongside many collegues on 9 December 2013, presumably because they had been documenting human rights violations in Syria. She has not been heard of ever since. The portrait was drawn by Maxine Young.
