The Catalan Centre was established in Barcelona on 19 April 1923, and this photograph was most likely taken at the at the 13^th PEN International Congress in Barcelona, Spain, 1935, which they hosted. Amongst those on the back row are Josep Maria Millàs-Raurell, second from the left, co-founder and secretary of the Catalan Centre (1923-39), and Josep Maria López-Picó, third from the left, co-founder of the Catalan Centre. Amongst those on the middle row are Carles Riba, fourth from the left, president of the Catalan Centre (1928-34; 1939-59), and Benjamin Crémieux, fifth from the left, then-secretary of the French Centre. Clementina Arderiu, early member of the Catalan Centre, could be sitting second from the left on the front row.
