The history of the Guinean PEN Centre is an extraordinary story. It is a story of women who have made their mark on the literary history of their country. It began in 1987, when the Senegalese PEN Centre, in collaboration with the Writers’ Association of Senegal, held a symposium on the theme Writing for radio: the revival of the oral tradition in Africa.

L’histoire du Centre guinéen du PEN est une histoire hors du commun. C’est une histoire de femmes qui ont tenu à marquer de leur empreinte l’histoire littéraire de leur pays. Elle a débuté en 1987, année lors de laquelle le Centre sénégalais du PEN, en collaboration avec l’Association des écrivains du Sénégal, a organisé un colloque sur le thème Écrire pour la radio, ou la renaissance de la tradition orale en Afrique.

La historia del Centro PEN Guinea es una historia extraordinaria. Es una historia de mujeres que han dejado su huella en la historia literaria de su país. Comenzó en 1987, cuando el Centro PEN de Senegal, en colaboración con la Asociación de Escritores de Senegal, organizó un simposio sobre el tema: «Escribir para la radio o el resurgimiento de la tradición oral en África».
