Front covers of two copies of Sao dong de Ximalayashan (Restless Himalayas) by Dolma Kyab in their Tibetan and Chinese language versions, published in 2007. The Tibetan writer and teacher Dolma Kyab (pen-name Lobsang Kelsang Gyatso) was detained on 5 March 2005 and tried in secret on 30 November 2005 after the publication of this book, on accusations of “endangering state security” under Chinese law. Despite public protests, support from human rights organisations including PEN International and an appeal from his family, Kyab’s ten-and-a-half year sentence was maintained.
