Goran Simić

Photograph of Bosnian poet Goran Simić, laureate of the PEN Freedom to Write Award 1994. Simić was one of the many writers who got trapped in Sarajevo as a result of the siege of the city, between 1992 and 1996. He was able to helps distribute help to his fellow writers through the Writers for Peace Committee and the PEN International Network. He was able to relocate to Canada in 1995. Simić returned to Sarajevo in 2013.
