Witness at the British Library

Photograph of Witness by Antony Gormley, a sculpture commissioned by the English Centre in 2011 to mark its 90th anniversary. The sculpture, which depicts an empty chair – a symbol PEN International has long used to represent persecuted and imprisoned writers around the world at their conferences and Congresses – stands permanently in the forecourt of The British Library in London.

La sculpture, qui représente une chaise vide (un symbole que PEN International utilise depuis longtemps pour figurer les écrivains persécutés et emprisonnés dans le monde lors de ses conférences et Congrès) est installée de manière permanente dans la cour avant de la British Library, à Londres.
