TLRC members at Girona Meeting
Photograph of Translation and Linguistic Rights Committee members in Girona for a meeting held there on 11-13 May 2011, at which the Girona Manifesto on Linguistic Rights was signed. The TLRC developed the Girona Manifesto as a tool to aid the dissemination and implementation of the Universal Declaration of Linguistic Rights, which had been signed by delegates from 61 NGOs and 41 PEN Centres, as well as 40 global linguistic experts, at the World Conference on Linguistic Rights in June 1996. John Ralston Saul, president of PEN International (2009-15), can be seen seated at the centre on the front row. Seated to his right is Simona Škrabec, chair of TLRC (2014-20); to the right of Škrabec is Takeaki Hori, international secretary of PEN International (2010-16). Josep-Maria Terricabras, chair of TLRC (2008-14) is standing second from the right on the back row. Others present include delegates from the Slovene, Swiss-Italian, Quebecois, Occitan, Catalan, Croatian, Uyghur, Basque, Romanian and Zimbabwean PEN Centres.
