Solidarity with Ashraf Fayadh in Mexico City
Photograph of the audience at a protest event held for Ashraf Fayadh, a Palestinian poet, artist, and curator living in Saudi Arabia, who was sentenced to eight years in prison and 800 lashes on charges of apostasy on 2 February 2014. This event was organised by the Mexican Centre as part of a demonstration of global solidarity for Fayadh co-ordinated by the International Literature Festival in Berlin, which consisted of 120 poetry readings taking place worldwide simultaneously on 14 January 2016. The particular event seen here was held at Casa Refugio Citlaltépetl in Mexico City. This photograph was taken by Pascual Borzelli.
