Resolution published during ‘The Emergency’

Copy of “P.E.N. In the Emergency,” The Indian P.E.N. 56, no. 7-9 (1995): 30. This supplement from The Indian P.E.N. contains a reprint of a resolution that emerged as a result of a meeting held by the All-India Centre’s executive committee in Mumbai on 22 July 1975. This resolution was originally published on page 12 of the August 1975 edition of The Indian P.E.N., the All-India Centre’s internal editorial. It cites a clause from PEN International’s Charter and clarifies the All-India Centre’s position regarding freedom of expression and literary censorship during the period known as ‘The Emergency’ that was declared by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi between 1975 and 1977.

Ce document contient une réédition du rapport paru à la suite d'une rencontre du comité exécutif du Centre indien à Mumbai, le 22 juillet 1975. Ce rapport a été publié, à l'origine, en page 12 du numéro d'août 1975 du The Indian P.E.N., le périodique interne du Centre indien. Il cite une clause de la Charte de PEN International et clarifie la position du Centre indien au regard de la liberté d'expression et de la censure littéraire au cours de la période de «l'État d'urgence», déclarée par la Première ministre d'alors, Indira Gandhi, entre 1975 et 1977.

Este documento incluye uns reimpresión de la resolución surgida de la reunión del comité ejecutivo del Centro de la India en Bombay, el 22 de julio de 1975. La resolución fue originalmente publicada en la página 12 de la edición de agosto de 1975 del The Indian P.E.N., el boletín interno del Centro de la India. El texto cita una cláusula del Acta Constitutiva de PEN Internacional y clarifica la posición del Centro de la India con respecto a la libertad de expresión y a la censura literaria, durante el período conocido como «La Emergencia», declarado por la entonces primera ministra Indira Gandhi, entre 1975 y 1977.
