Plaque commemorating Eguna

Photograph of a plaque commemorating Eguna, a Basque language newspaper that was published for six months from January 1937 until General Franco’s troops seized Bilbao in June 1937. This plaque was set in the street in Bilbao where the Eguna headquarters had been, at a ceremony held in February 2017 – exactly eighty years after the publication was forced to close.

Photographie d'une plaque commémorant l'Eguna, un journal en langue basque, publié pendant six mois, de janvier à juin 1937, moment où les troupes du Général Franco se sont emparées de Bilbao. Cette plaque a été installée dans le rue, à Bilbao, à l'endroit où était situé le siège de l'Eguna, pendant une cérémonie tenue en février 2017, quatre-vingt ans exactement après la fermeture forcée du journal.

Fotografía de una placa conmemorando el Eguna, un periódico en vasco que se publicó durante seis meses, desde enero de 1937, hasta que las tropas del general Franco tomaron Bilbao, en junio de 1937. Esta placa fue colocada en la calle bilbaína donde estuvo la sede del Eguna, en una ceremonia en febrero de 2017, ochenta años después del cierre forzado del periódico.
