Melbourne PEN was established in 1938. My intimate knowledge of what went on goes back as far as the time of Judah Waten who, with his wife Hyrrel, ran a very busy Melbourne PEN. Waten was president of the Melbourne Centre of PEN International in Australia in 1977–79.

Le PEN de Melbourne a été créé en 1938. Ma connaissance intime de son histoire remonte à l’époque de Judah Waten, qui, avec sa femme Hyrrel, a dirigé un PEN de Melbourne très actif. Waten a été président du Centre PEN de Melbourne, qui représente PEN International en Australie, de 1977 à 1979.
