1985. ‘I remember that many years ago, when we were in the early stages of establishing the Community of Writers of Guatemala, I received a letter from Arturo Arias asking us to look into how we could form an organisation of writers in Guatemala that would be attached to what was then known as the International Writers’ PEN Club. The effort was in vain’.

1985. «Recuerdo que hace muchos años, cuando empezábamos a fundar la Comunidad de Escritores de Guatemala, recibí por carta el encargo de Arturo Arias para que viéramos cómo en Guatemala, formáramos una organización de escritores que adscribiera a lo que entonces se conocía como el Pen Club Internacional de Escritores. El esfuerzo fue vano».
