Aino Kallas lived in London from 1922 to 1934. In the 1920s, Kallas joined the PEN Centre in London, which was founded in 1921, and proposed establishing a PEN Centre in Finland (letter to Yrjö Hirn) in 1925. Kallas also contacted the Writers’ Union, where the idea was supported.
