PEN International’s Committee minutes, 1922

Handwritten minutes from the first meeting held by PEN International (here called the ‘International PEN Committee’) on 26 February 1922, f. 1. This page notes that this meeting was chaired by John Galsworthy, first president of PEN International and the English Centre (1921-35), with Catharine Amy Dawson Scott, founder of PEN International, in attendance. Others listed as being at the meeting are the British suffragette, writer and feminist Beatrice Harraden; L. R. McLeod; J. Anthony; C. Q. Bay; Ranewsky; and Marjorie Watts (here called Miss Scott) first international secretary of PEN International (1921-26). The document opens by noting dicussions to be had regarding opening PEN Centres in other countries – mentioning Italy in this case. By 1923 PEN had Centres in most European countries, as well as in New York and Mexico City.

Esta página deja constancia de que la reunión fue presidida por John Galsworthy, primer presidente de PEN Internacional y del Centro Inglés (1921-35), con la presencia de Catharine Amy Dawson Scott, presidenta de PEN Internacional. Otros asistentes enumerados son la sufragista británica, escritora y feminista Beatrice Harraden; L. R. McLeod; J. Anthony; C. Q. Bay; Ranwsky; y Marjorie Watts (aquí «Miss Scott»), primera secretaria internacional de PEN Internacional (1921-26). El documento se inicia dejando constancia de las discusiones sobre abrir Centros PEN en otros países, concretamente Italia. En 1923, PEN tenía Centros en la mayoría de países Europeos, así como en Nueva York y Ciudad de México.
