Members of the Cuban Writers in Exile Centre with the Cuban writer Zoé Valdés, who together formed the panel and principal speakers at an event titled Educación y Literatura para un Cuba Democrática. From left to right are: José Antonio Albertini, president of the Cuban Writers in Exile Centre (2017-20); Zoé Valdés; Ángel Cuadra, president (1997-2006; 2009-17) and honorary president of the Cuban Writers in Exile Centre; Ángel de Fana, president of the Writers in Prison Committee; Daniel I. Pedreira, secretary of the Cuban Writers in Exile Centre; and Santiago Álvarez, president of Fundación Rescate Jurídico. This event was organised by the Cuban Writers in Exile Centre in collaboration with the Fundación Rescate Jurídico, the Instituto de la Memoria Histórica contra el Totalitarismo, and the Herencia Cultural Cubana. It took place on 5 May 2018 at the Coral Gables Branch Library in Miami-Dade County.
