Panel at Libertad Bajo Fianza conference

From left to right are: Miguel Huezo Mixco, Salvadoran writer and journalist; Carlos Fernando Chamorro Barrios, Nicaraguan investigative journalist; Carmen Aristegui, Mexican journalist; Gioconda Belli, president of the Nicaraguan Centre (2013-); Najem Walli, Iraqi-born German novelist and journalist; Josef Haslinger, president of the German Centre (2013-18); and Lutz Kliche, German writer and moderater of the event. This conference was held for El Día del Periodista (The Day of the Journalist), which is observed annually on 8 September and commemorates Julius Fučík, a Czechoslovakian journalist who was murdered by the Nazi party in 1943.

De izquierda a derecha: Miguel Huezo Mixco, escritor y periodista de El Salvador; Carlos Fernando Chamorro Barrios, periodista de investigación nicaragüense; Carmen Aristegui, periodista mexicana; Gioconda Belli, presidenta del Centro Nicaragüense (2013-); Najem Walli, escritor y periodista alemán nacido en Iraq; Josef Haslinger, presidente del Centro Alemán (2013-18); y Lutz Kliche, escritor alemán, que moderó las intervenciones. La conferencia se celebró el El Día del Periodista, 8 de septiembre. Se organizó en recuerdo de Julius Fučík, periodista checoslovaco, activista político y crítico con el partido nazi, que fue ejecutado en la prisión Plötzensee de Berlin, en 1943.
