“Mea Culpa” statement

Statement issued by the Chilean Centre in April 2016 titled ‘Centro PEN Chile: Declaración del Directorio’, f. 1. This statement from the Chilean Centre’s Board reaffirms that the Centre’s principles are lined with those held by PEN International and references seven points from their list of statutes to demonstrate their dedication to protecting freedom of expression. The highlighted “Mea Culpa” statement refers to the Centre’s regret at having not condemned the human rights violations enacted under the dictatorship that dominated Chile in the later half of the 20th Century, and affirms their resolve to stand in solidarity with countries suffering from conflict and censorship.

Déclaration «Mea Culpa»

Déclaration émise par le Centre chilien en avril 2016 intitulée «Centro PEN Chile: Declaración del Directorio», f. 1. Cette déclaration du conseil d'administration du Centre chilien réaffirme que les principes défendus par le Centre sont alignés avec ceux de PEN International et fait référence à sept points tirés de sa liste de statuts qui démontrent son ardeur à défendre la liberté d'expression. La mention «Mea Culpa» mise en évidence se réfère aux regrets du Centre de ne pas avoir condamné les violations des droits de la personnes au cours de la dictature qui a eu cours au Chili pendant la deuxième moitié du 20e siècle, et affirme la volonté de se montrer solidaire des pays qui souffrent de conflits et de censure.

Declaración "Mea Culpa"

Declaración del Centro Chileno en abril de 2016 titulada «Centro PEN Chile: Declaración del Directorio», f. 1. Esta declaración del directorio del Centro Chileno reafirma que los principios del Centro están alineados con los de PEN Internacional y cita siete puntos de su lista de estatutos que demuestran su compromiso con la protección de la libertad de expresión. La destacada declaración «Mea Culpa» se refiere al arrepentimiento del Centro por no haber condenado las violaciones de los derechos humanos durante la dictadura en Chile, en la segunda mitad del siglo XX. También afirma su voluntad de solidaridad con los países que sufren conflictos y censuras.
