Extract from Křivánek, Vladimír. Conscience of the Word: the story of Czech P.E.N. Prague: České Centrum Mezinárodního PEN Klubu, 2018. This page from Křivánek’s book on the history of the Czech Centre contains a scan of the Centre’s first membership list, with a typed list of names beside it. The original list seen here contains signatures of the thirty-eight members who met in Prague on 15 February 1925 to officially establish the Centre, including that of Karel Čapek, first president of the Czech Centre (1925-33).
