Fire damage at Kurdish Centre
Photograph of the raided and damaged interior room of the Kurdish Centre, showing fire damage to its benches. On 2 February 2016, the offices of the Kurdish Centre in Sur Amed-Diyarbakir were attacked and raided. This took place during a time of national emergency in Turkey, when freedom of expression was critically compromised as Kurdish literary institutions and writers became targets of attack. This photograph was most likely taken by a member of the Kurdish Centre around that time.
