Ethel Turner

Photograph of Ethel Turner taken by Harold Cazneaux in 1928. Ethel Turner, along with Mary Gilmore and Dorothea Mackellar, founded the Sydney Centre in 1931. Turner began writing at 18 and was awarded a number of prestigious awards during her lifetime. Today, The Ethel Turner Prize for Young People’s Literature is given annually under the auspices of the New South Wales Premier’s Literary Award.
