Two photographs of writers and PEN members gathered for the Palestinian Centre’s 6^th International Poetry Festival, which took place in Jerusalem, Nablus and Bethlehem on 1-4 October 1999. This event, which promoted Palestinian literature, drew together poets and writers from countries across the world, and included Rami Hamdallah, President of the Palestinian National Authority (2014-19), as a guest of honour. Hamdallah can be seen seated first on the left on the picture above, beside Hanan Awwad, president of the Palestinian Centre (1992-). The photograph below shows Awwad speaking at a conference that took place during the festival.
