50th International Writers’ Meeting in Bled

Copy of Simonović, Ifigenija, ed. 50 Let Years Ans. Ljubljana: Slovenski center PEN, 2018. This book, which was published by the Slovene Centre and edited by Ifigenija Simonović, president of the Slovene Centre (2017-20), with technical editing by Egist Zagoričnik, was created for the 50th International Writers’ Meeting that took place in Bled on 17-22 April 2018. Every year PEN International’s Writers for Peace Committee meets in Bled for their annual conference, hosted by the Slovene Centre. Although officially established in 1984, 2018 marked fifty years since the committee’s first unofficial meeting took place in 1968. This book recounts certain events in the Slovene Centre’s and PEN International’s histories between and before that time, including the 33rd PEN International Congress in Bled in 1965 – which the Slovene Centre hosted and at which Arthur Miller was elected president of the organisation. The book also contains poems and anecdotal essays written by PEN members.
