1978 International Conference

Photograph of panel speakers at the Catalan Centre’s International Conference, which took place at the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona in October 1978. Among them, from left to right, are: Josep Palau i Fabre, president of the Catalan Centre (1976-79); Alexandre Blokh, international secretary of PEN International (1981-98); Josep Vicenç Foix, founding member of the Catalan Centre; and Mario Vargas Llosa, president of PEN International (1976-79). A relationship between PEN International and UNESCO was established at this conference, and the Catalan Centre’s Programme and Translation Committee was created.

Parmis eux, de gauche à droite: Josep Palau i Fabre, président du Centre catalan (1976-79); Alexandre Blokh, secrétaire international de PEN International (1981-98); Josep Vicenç Foix, membre fondateur du Centre catalan; et Mario Vargas Llosa, président de PEN International (1976-79). PEN International et l'UNESCO ont pu tisser des liens au cours de cette conférence, et le Comité de programmation et de traduction du Centre catalan a vu le jour.
